All queries are manually posted by me, and they come to me by e-mail. PLEASE PUT Macon Co Query in the subject line. In the body of the email, please place your query with your name and email address at the end.

If for some reason you would like to cancel or change your query, or if your e-mail address has changed, please e-mail me direct. At the end of the year, I will be checking all e-mail addresses listed below. I will send you an e-mail and if it doesn't bounce, your query will remain on this page. But, if your e-mail can't be delivered, after I try twice, then I will remove your query.

One more item, IL GenWeb does not search for living people. There are other web pages devoted to that. We exist for genealogical purposes ONLY!!!

    DARKNELL
Interested in hearing from descendants of DARKNELL family members who crossed over from Wiltshire, England about late 1800's, early 1900's; not sure why they went to Macon County, but there were quite a few of them. The Darknells and Trimby families were both in the area at same time and inter-married; the Trimby family being from Somersetshire, England. Would like to hear from Trimby descendants, also.

    DEAN
I am seeking the descendants of my paternal great grandfather, George W. Dean and his second wife, Lola Guyton. Georges first wife, Nellie Lown passed away in April 1914 and suddenly became a widower with 4 young children. He kept the first two children: Florence and Roland, and the last two, Ethel and Martha were given away for adoption. Ethel was my grandmother. George eventually remarried Lola Guyton probably in 1915 and had six more children. According to the 1920 Federal Census, they lived in Stockton in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, and the 1930 Federal Census showed George and his family was living in Decatur. George passed away at one of his daughters place in Kalamazoo, MI in 1967 and was buried in Decatur. A copy of George Deans 1967 memorial pamphlet mentioned he lived in Decatur for 40 years so he probably moved to Decatur with his family probably in 1927.

    DECOURCY
HIGGINS, EDWARD, born in Ireland Feb 1864, married KATHERINE DECOURCY, Decatur, Illinois 1896-98? and lived there the rest of their lives. KATHERINE DECOURCY was born in Harristown, Illinois January 1868 and may have had a sister named Mary who married a LEWIS SKELLY. EDWARD was first married to MARGARET FLYNN and together had a daughter, Aileen born in 1894. Margaret apparently died in birth. EDWARD may have had a brother, FRANK, and a sister MOLLIE (whose married name may have been RYAN), also living in Decatur. EDWARD and KATHERINE died in the late 1940s or early 1950s and are buried in Calvary Cemetery, Decatur. EDWARD was a Wabash engineer.

    DELLINGER/DOLL
Seeking to find descendents of John W. Dellinger and Mary Ann Doll, who moved to Decatur, Macon County, somewhere between 1875 and 1879. Children listed on the 1880 census were Martha, Alice (my ggrandmother), Stevan, Sarah, John and Winfield. There was probably at least one additional child born to them in Decatur - George. I have yet to confirm that he and Winfield are not one and the same. George later married a woman known to me only as Ramona. My mother remembers her great aunt Martha, who was married and had children, but she cannot remember Martha's married name. Mother also remembers her great uncle "Steve" Dellinger, as well as great uncle George. She has no memory of Sarah, John or Winfield, so they may well have died early. Mother was born in Decatur in 1923 (Elizabeth Anne Esch, best known as "Betty"). I am also looking for any brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts or uncles of John W. Dellinger or Mary Ann Doll Dellinger, who might have emigrated with them, or before them, from Pennsylvania.

    FALCONER
Looking for information on Mary E. FALCONER, wife of Edward V. in the 1880 Macon County Census. Mary CARTER, age 76, born in KY, was listed as Mother in Law. My wife's gg grandmother was Mary Ann Harrison who married Elijah Carter in KY, they moved to IL, where they are listed in 1860. They did have a daughter, Mary E. Although the ages don't match, the names and birthplaces do, so I was wondering if Mary E. FALCONER's maiden name was CARTER, and if any other information was known about Mary Carter. I have hit a brick wall on her. Any help would be appreciated.

    FYKE
I am trying to determine the Maroa, Decatur and Harristown descendants of Richard Samuel (1852-1934) and Mary A. Boggs FYKE and those of his second wife, Alice E. (last name unknown). I am especially interested in the families of Trixie Fyke Cross (abt 1900-??) and Velma Fern FYKE (abt 1905-1976), daughters of George Bert FYKE (abt 1878-1931) and Joseph Fred FYKE (abt 1883-1975), respectively, as I understand it. Both women were members of Harristown Christian Church (Trixie in the 1920s through the '50s, I believe; Fern perhaps as late as 1962). Thank you for your help.
